Yay, more adventures! This past Saturday my family and I went strawberry picking and it was so much more fun than I thought it would have been. Out of nowhere Florida got a sudden cold front so it made walking outside pretty enjoyable.
The patch we went to is Pappy's U-Pick in Oviedo, Florida. They had three separate sections with rows of strawberries to pick from, the season for strawberries is almost over so there was not an abundance of really good looking strawberries to pick from. The field had flooded the night before and the weather in the area the past couple of days has been sunny and hot so there were a lot of dried out plants and old strawberries. This made the experience a little more fun for us at least in a way, because we had to look out for the best strawberries that were left and we actually went through two out of the three large sections till we decided we had enough strawberries.
I highly recommend anyone who has a pick your own fruit field in your area to try it out at least once, especially if you're a fan of fruit. The pricing may be a bit more in the end in comparison to grocery stores but you get to decide the exact fruit you take home piece by piece and learn more about how the fruit grows and what exactly it grows on. (Blueberries are coming into season next at this patch and I was able to learn that they grow on trees.) Till next time!
